The article discusses the main directions of development of state information resources on the state and use of agricultural lands. The purpose and capabilities of land remote sensing systems in relation to the tasks of managing the agro-industrial complex are described. The features of the atlas of agricultural lands as a system for collecting and storing information on agricultural lands are considered. The foreign experience in the development of land monitoring systems is analyzed. Attention is drawn to the key tasks of the development of land monitoring systems, the solution of which will ensure food security and minimize the risks from the supply of space images by foreign suppliers.
