FRUIT COUNTERWEIGHTS. IMPORT IS CHEAPER, RETAIL IS GROWING



Prices for the import of fruits and vegetables in Russia. In the March / February 2021 pair for import operations, the average actual prices grew mainly for citrus fruits (+ 2.3%). Imported vegetables - tomatoes and potatoes - on the contrary, declined in price by 1.5% and 5%, respectively. Banana prices rose 1.1%.


As of March 2020, all prices for imported vegetables and fruits declined in March, ranging from 12.6% for tomatoes to 0.1% for bananas. On average, the decline is 6.5%.


For foreign potatoes, the average actual price per tonne in March 2021 amounted to USD 370.3. By March 2020, the price was down 6.5%.


Tomato import cost $ 1186 / t. Prices for bananas, including plantains (fresh and dried) remained practically at the level of last year and amounted to $ 745 / ton.


Imported citruses were imported into Russia for $ 693 / ton, prices by February 2020 were 4.5% lower. @agrorisk
