Livestock raising. At the end of March 2021, the number of cattle in the farms of all agricultural producers, according to Rosstat calculations, amounted to 18.4 million heads (1.1% less than in March 2020).
Dairy herds - 7.9 million heads (decreased by 1.2% or 95 thousand cows), pigs - 26.3 million (increased by 0.7%), sheep and goats - 22.4 million heads (by 3.4 % less), poultry - 541.6 million (1.3% less).
The households of the population owned 40.2% of the cattle population (a decrease of 0.8%), 8.9% of pigs (a decrease of 0.9%) and 46.6% of sheep and goats (an increase of 0.3%) of the livestock population across all farm categories (estimates are compared to March 2020). @agrorisk
