From July 15 to October 15 this year, letters of credit for 1,565 thousand tons were opened for wheat imports in the public and private sectors of Bangladesh.
Most are open in India, Ukraine, Russia and Bulgaria. At the same time, more than a third were open to Ukraine. Of these, only letters of credit for 663 thousand tons were used, of which private imports amount to just over four hundred thousand tons. For comparison, the total volume of wheat imports into the country in 2021 amounted to 5,343 thousand tons, of which 17% came from Ukraine and 21% from Russia.
